I was really disappointed in this book. Part of that is my fault, since I made the assumption that this was a full book, not a 42-page booklet from which I learned absolutely nothing. Most of the book is taken up by personal stories - which can be helpful when you are facing a new diagnosis, and need to understand what your life might be like. However, this book entirely fails at being "A Guide to Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome". The entire "chapter" (all of 3.5 pages) on coping is most about putting your faith in God, and accepting your diagnosis. While acceptance is key in moving forward with EDS, this book offers zero practical advice on how to deal with the daily difficulties of EDS.

Enjoyed the case studies/personal stories

Easy to read and very helpful for family and friends of EDS sufferers.

I haven't read a book in 4 yrs, but i saw that this book was out there for free and I myself suffer from EDS, ( the same subtype as the author), and I can completely relate in most ways to her struggles. There were a few spots of information about the history on EDS that were interesting and also it was nice to learn about coping. GREAT BOOK!!!

Great book. Gave a great insight to the disorder. Made my daughter feel less "alone" in the issues of living with EDS

Simple and basic book. Would have been glad for more in depth information, but it was a fast and easy read that gave a great over view.

turkey lasagnaServes 9Here’s the solution for what to take to potluck dinners. Cooking spray8 ounces dried whole-grain lasagna noodles1 pound lean ground skinless turkey breast8 ounces button mushrooms, sliced½ cup chopped onion3 medium garlic cloves, minced3 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce2 teaspoons dried basil, crumbled½ teaspoon dried oregano, crumbledPepper to taste16 ounces fat-free cottage cheese1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dryDash of nutmeg2 cups shredded or grated low-fat mozzarella cheese Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray. Prepare the noodles using the package directions, omitting the salt. Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, stir together the turkey, mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the turkey is no longer pink, stirring occasionally to turn and break up the turkey. Reduce the heat to low. Cook, covered, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the mushrooms have released their liquid. Increase the heat to high. Cook, uncovered, for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the liquid evaporates. Stir in the tomato sauce, basil, oregano, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low. Cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until heated through. In a large bowl, stir together the cottage cheese, spinach, and nutmeg. In the baking dish, layer one-third of the cooked noodles, one-half of the cottage cheese mixture, one-third of the turkey mixture, and one-third of the mozzarella.Repeat the layers. HUGE selection of recipes sure to fit anyone's tastes, but no photos!!!! Photos offer such an inspiration to make a dish, and I miss those so much!!! I would've paid more for the book had they included those. Maybe they were trying to keep the costs down. If so, I can respect that, for sure. It's a very thick book and if you don't need photos, there's a ton here. If you need photos, you might be disappointed.

My wife and I ordered this cookbook as soon as I was released from the hospital. I had had a heart attack at age 58, and healthier eating--low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-sodium, smaller portions--was on the menu. It has now been more than six weeks, and we have eaten about 90 percent of our meals from this book. People ask me, "what do you miss most?" and I have nothing to say. The recipes have yielded such tasty meals that I truly never think about the fact that I'm not getting the salt or fat I was so used to.I recommend this book to anyone who needs or wants to eat healthy food. My wife did not have a heart attack, but she has chosen to eat exactly what I eat (and is losing weight, as I am, because of it) and is enjoying the food every bit as much as I am.Get this cookbook as soon as you can.

This has been a GREAT help.It's for my mom but everyone in my household has come down with something where we need a variation of this diet! I needed a diabetic diet and this meets our needs very well.What i didn't expect was this book doesn't treat you as if you already know how to do certain types of cooking. Online tutorials have not been kind to this newlywed. I've learned so much on top of getting to eat healthier! We've even trimmed down a bit thanks to recipes for homemade broths and seasoning mixes and various other staples for cooking in this book. (Try the taco recipes if you get this, my family loves how flavorful they came out.)Combine this book with a transition from store bought seasoning mixes with more than 100mg of sodium (not % but MG!! If you're also on a "under 1500mg of sodium" limit as well) and canned veggies to frozen and you're well on you're way to better health! (Purely my opinion as my body struggles with preservatives in canned products. I know not everyone can afford dropping cans from their lives. Even We don't buy fresh. I could go into detail but I'm reviewing the book not my life lol)Definitely something to look into, even if you don't have cardiac or diabetic issues!

Until I got this cookbook.I am only 31 years old. And after giving birth to my daughter 7 months ago (and a horrible 12 day hospital stay), I was told I had heart failure (cardiomyopathy). It was devastating. Then once I learned what eating too much sodium really does to me and causes breathing problems, I knew I really had to stick to my Doctor's orders of consuming no more than 1,500 mg of sodium a day.I never thought I ate much sodium. I was the kind of person who rarley salted my food, I didn't eat fast food, I tried to get natural or organic ingredients, I even had unsalted butter at home. No one realizes that sodium is in EVERYTHING once you really look at it. So when you're faced with having to restrict your intake, it's daunting and depressing. I cried so many times thinking I'd never get to eat at a restaurant ever again. I'd never have good tasting food again.First I ordered the No-Salt cookbook. Hated it. Most bland food I've ever had.Then I tried this. Oh my god, it allows me to eat CHEESE and BACON! (Wisconsin girl here) I am telling you, you will not think you are eating low sodium meals with this cook book. Not only are the recipes low sodium, but low fat too. They really know how to bring out flavors without salt. My husband cooks recipes from this book every night for me, and even he likes it. I've only had a couple recipes so far that I didn't care for much. This is a winner!Also, look up the AHA Healthy Slow Cooker Cookbook.

I ordered this book for two reasons one my best friend has to be on a heart healthy diet, and on my dad's side of the family has a lot of heart problems do I wanted to stop from getting one.... I did rent heart healthy cook books from the library, but 90% of them had pork ham bacon and sausage recipes and I can't eat these because I'm allergic to them, but this book isn't like that it's filled with stuff I can eat. I haven't cooked out of it yet, but my best friends daughter has a diet doctor who says this book is promising.

This cookbook looks fabulous! My sister is using it and mentioned several good recipes. My husband recently had a heart attack. He is recovering nicely, but I am trying to learn a new way of cooking. The only drawback (and it isn't really a bad point) is that it is so huge that I am a little overwhelmed!

This is a good place to start on the quest to prepare heart healthy meals. There are a wide variety of recipes to keep things from getting boring, and detailed nutritional information is listed for each one. Some of the recipes go a little heavy on the carbohydrates (rice, etc), but those are easily adjusted by switching out the offending ingredient for something else like spinach, other veggies, etc. I only mention this because our cardiologist emphasized low carbohydrate in general, not just the white flour/sugar type--other physicians' recommendations might not include that particular caveat.

My first cookbook ever, so I don't have anything to compare it to but I'm in love with the recipes. It's like I've been accepted into a super secret society where good meals abound. Only thing is it sold 3 million already lol. Onr down side is not pictures but the instructions are detailed to the point that it's hard to mess things up. 4 stars! The lack of pictures stopped it from being a 5.

While this may be a good read for certain beginners, it's definitely not such a good read for those who have already backpacked several times (i.e. me) - as I don't believe some of the money saving tips are exactly that useful on certain areas (ie using table water-- but what if you are very cautious and don't really want to get sick case and point: India)But anyway, great book for beginners, but would definitely skip it if you're an experienced backpacker.

Mind blowing common sense stupid tips. Watch two YouTube videos or my fav channel Artemis on the Trail and you are caught up. Hire an editor for the grammar

As a somewhat frequent sufferer of low back pain, I was interested in reading Morgan Sutherland’s Low Back Pain Survival Guide.It is an easy read, loaded with lots of helpful information as well as explanations and easy to follow diagrams.It clearly explained why I’ve had low back pain and how to avoid it and alleviate it.I knew some of the poses from yoga (and they work) but there were some new ones in there I did not know (and they work also!).Great to know which ones to do.I found the book to be clear, easy to understand and very useful for anyone suffering from low back pain. Being available as an E-Book makes it easy to read on any device and very portable (so you can look at it whenever/wherever you do your stretching). Having a print (traditional book) option is also helpful. I know I will be using it as a resource to go back to for help with my pain. Of course, I’m realizing that if I just followed it regularly, I wouldn’t get the low back pain!I would highly recommend the book at anyone who’s ever had low back pain. It also would be a great gift for anyone you know who suffers from low back pain.

After years of dealing with lower back pain I received a copy of Morgan Sutherland’s book, “Low Back Pain Survival Guide, Twenty-One Days to a Pain-Free Back”Over that time, I’ve tried acupuncture, various exercises, yoga and massage which all had degrees of positive results but certainly not to the extent I had hoped for. I have been using the program outlined in Morgan’s book doing the 21 exercises over the course of time and I can honestly say I haven’t felt this good for a very long time.The book is informative, as it comprehensively describes the causes of back pain, some of the myths and the ways to effectively relieve and correct the problems I had. The exercises are described very well and are augmented with illustrations that greatly help in understanding how to do them.If you’ve been suffering with lower back pain, you need to get this book and follow the program!

Morgan Sutherland’s “Low Back Pain Survival Guide”, a follow-up to his very helpful “Back to the Past – 9 Ways to Free yourself from Back Pain” has some very useful guidance and information for dealing with low back pain. This is a problem I’ve suffered with on and off for many years. Morgan’s stretching/strengthening regimen does the trick. When I follow his 21 exercises they never fail to reduce my discomfort and get my back into good pain free shape. My favorite tip is how to get out of bed in the morning. I follow it religiously and it’s a great way to start the day with your back feeling good.

This is book is a great resource of information for learning how to relieve back pain. Morgan explains the causes different types of back pain and how to relieve the pain and discomfort. He shows you how to make corrections in your standing and sitting postures. He describes a series of strengthening exercises and regimens, using stretching, toning, and resistance bands. My favorite exercises are the ones which strengthen your core. The book is written in easy to understand language, and is supported by excellent diagrams. However, before you start performing the exercises, you should see your doctor and get a thorough medical evaluation of your particular back problem. When you know what is causing your pain, you can perform the specific exercises which will alleviate your problem. By starting out slowly and gradually building up yourcapacity to perform the exercises, you will see results.

I burst my L5S1 disc and suffered from severe back pain ever since. This book did wonders to help relieve the pain and to maintain a level of fitness to prevent it re-occurring regularly. The different sections were all helpful - short term pain relief, acute pain reduction and long term back pain prevention. I maintain a daily exercise plan based on his 15 minute routine that is invaluable. Great book!

Theresa M. Campo, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-BC, FAANP, received a doctor of nursing practice degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a master's of science in nursing degree from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania. Theresa has over 23 years experience in emergency medicine as a registered professional nurse and advanced practice nurse. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a family nurse practitioner and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an emergency nurse practitioner. Dr. Campo is the co-director of the Family Nurse Practitioner track and associate clinical professor for the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She works clinically as an emergency nurse practitioner in the emergency department at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and is an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University. This book was very helpful in minor/basic procedures. Great for a student or a practitioner going into urgent care/ER. Step by step instructions with helpful pictures. I will definitely be keeping this book when I am done school.

There is adequate information on some of the procedures covered, but it seems to have a limited information and pictures on others.

Good resource for those needing to learn procedures.

Great reference for my wife, a nurse practitioner.

I wish I had returned this book, the graphics in which they are showing the procedure and what to look for are black and white. Poor lighting on some pics I can't even see what they are showing.
