I tutor high school and college math and wanted a straightforward study guide to recommend for my students. I could not recommend this one.Instead of simple formulas underlying the images, the theorems are written out and proven. I already know that, and so do my students. I just wanted images, say of intersecting chords in a circle and the relation of their intercepted arcs, and one formula to match. I didn't need the language nor the proof.The double-sided tri-fold could have been a double-sided bifold if done more efficiently.I ended up making my own study guide with images and formulas for my students, and it was 4 pages.

AS I said in review of Part 1 of the Geometry Study Guide, plan on buying both Part 1 and Part 2 when you start out, since the organization of these guides seems somewhat mysterious. There are subjects in Part 2 that were covered very early on in Geometry class, and things in Part 1 that came very late in the year. If you have both sections, you can't go wrong, no matter what order a class takes.There is a HUGE amount of information in theses guides, and it will take some study to learn where things are in the guide itself. Once that's done, though, you can practically throw away your textbook for the most part -- well, except for needing to know what homework problems to do! ;-) These guides are VERY complete and the information is really good and well presented -- BETTER than many textbooks.Part 2 is definitely worth the money, especially in conjunction with Part 1. It's made the difference for my kid between a C and an A (really!) because it has really helped him with homework -- not having to page through the book, or search through the online book, has helped immeasurably. For me, there was enough there to re-awaken the nightmares of Geometry class long ago, and I could actually help him when he got stuck. THAT'S a great guide, hmm?

Excellent study aid and reference guide. So glad we got this for our daughter. It helped me review/teach her basic concepts that she was unable to learn from the teacher. If the teacher just isn't cutting it, it's better to learn from different aids than to just give up and score poorly in the class.

Bought a set for Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. They are good to have around the home for your kids but there's nothing spectacular about them. And don't hold your breath for the "free downloads" advertised on them...they include highly sought-after titles like "Keys to High School Success," "Flag Day," & "Email Etiquette."

Reiter hooks the reader from the very first pages of this vibrant narrative, which weaves together compelling personal stories, fascinating characters, and just the right amount of inside baseball details. Whether you are a baseball fan or not, I'm confident you will love Astroball as much as I did.

What a fun read! I enjoy baseball as much as the next person, but I really love characters and problem-solving, which are the real heart of this book. And it's incredible that the author predicted the 2017 World Series years before! In the book, you get to know the guys behind the scenes at the Astros, and how they used their various smarts (like poker skills, ivy league education, etc) to build a better team than the statistics would predict. Really enjoyable for baseball fans, critical thinkers, and anyone who loves an underdog story.

I never should have read "Astroball." First off, sports, bleh. What a waste of time. Second, Ben Reiter is one of several Yalies named Ben with whom I’ve hungout over the years and not the one I hit it off with most. But I confused him with a closer acquaintance and requested an advance copy. By the time I noticed Reiter’s suave smirk on the rear dust jacket, I’d already finished the preface and the prologue (yes, it has both, and yes, you should read both), and I couldn’t have put the book down if I’d tried.That’s because "Astroball" is about baseball the way "Remember the Titans" is about football. Sure, Reiter explains how the Astros went from being the team with the worst track record and prospects in the league to winning the 2017 World Series. But the consummate storyteller uses his unusual level of access to both players and the Astros front office to interweave dramas with much more widespread appeal: How an industry undergoes a revolution. How a parent’s fidelity to their inner compass can transform the course of a child’s life. How peeling back the layers of a professional victory almost always reveals some combination of hustle, skill, and luck, but mostly hustle. How a liability in one context becomes an asset in another. How organizational change done right looks a lot like nation-building. How a supportive romantic partner behaves in a crisis. Even more useful, to Beltrán, was the way he described his mentality. “Sometimes you’re in an oh-for-ten slump, and you might start to doubt your ability,” Bonds said. “But you have to understand that every time you walk to the plate, the person who is in trouble isn’t you. It’s the pitcher.” A decade later, when Beltrán arrived for his first spring training with the Astros in February 2017, he knew that he appeared to his young teammates as Bonds once had to him. He was at least seven years older than almost all of them, earned 30 times more than some of them, and was by then a nine-time All-Star who had hit 421 home runs. During his first days with the Astros, he approached each one.***Sig Mejdal hated the World Series. He loved it, of course. It was the whole point, the simulated goal when he had spent his boyhood flicking the spinners of All-Star Baseball, the real one as he endlessly tweaked his models during all those late nights above his fraternity brother’s garage. Intellectually, though, he hated it. Baseball wasn’t a game like basketball, in which the best team—the Golden State Warriors, say—could reliably defeat almost any opponent at least 80 percent of the time. Baseball excellence could be judged only over the long term, and yet its annual champion, the club that history would remember, was decided after a series of no more than seven games. Any major league team could beat any opponent four times out of seven. “I wish it was a 162-game series, instead of seven,” Sig said. “But it’s seven. In every game, you have somewhere between a forty-two and fifty-eight percent chance of winning. Which is very close to a fifty percent chance. Which is a coin toss. As a long-time baseball fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Houston Astros I devoured Sports Illustrated’s Ben Reiter’s book “Astroball” - and loved it! I highly recommend it to any baseball fan regardless of your team loyalty.The book provides a fascinating account of the Astros’ amazing turnaround from the Sports Illustrated’s initially considered joke June 30, 2014 cover story predicting the Astros 2017 World Series win. Today, with the Astros considered a super team (with the Red Sox and Yankees) it is a bit difficult to remember how in 2014 the team had just concluded three years in a row at the BOTTOM of their division! Ben Reiter provides the fascinating backstory to the Astros’ owner, Jim Crane, and his selection as GM of Jeff Luhnow. Astroball well explains the data driven decision making approach, which, while the many successes are discussed at length, the stellar selection of Springer, Verlander and Bregman being discussed at great length, it also admits to the mega-mistake the Astros had made - the biggest being the release of J.D. Martinez - and what Luhnow had learned from it.Most interesting to me was the unbelievable two contributions to winning the World Series by an Astros player who had no at-bats during those seven games, Carlos Beltran.Bottom line, Astroball is an incredible story of modern day baseball. It clearly explains how data analytics synthesized with experience-based scouting have resulted in league beating baseball.

This is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at so many and varied decision making processes. The author does a great job of following good and poor decisions, explaining the processes and the people. I love George Springer, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman, but thought Carlos Correa was a little too polished (maybe calculating) in his demeanor. (To me, the wedding proposal took away from George and his series MVP performance.) There may be some truth to that, but it is because he has been planning this, in a mature, thoughtful manner, against great odds for a long time. More power to him! And I too wanted to understand Carlos Beltran's and Brian McCann's locker room contributions. I do wish there was more dugout and locker room conversations and exchanges - maybe that's for another book. "Astroball" still gets 5 stars from me!

I bought this because I am an Astros fan from Colt .45 day 1. I bought unseen and with some trepidation that it was going heavy into the mathmatical, statistical side, which is fine for folks with sharper minds than mine, but I am all about people. This book has all my favorite people!! It was a facinating account of the underbelly of winning Astros baseball that I would never of seen otherwise. I hope Jim Crane gave Ben Reiter a WS ring too!

Agree with previous reviewers this is a total ripoff. I didn't check the reviews before purchasing because my minecraft-loving son really wanted it. We have other hard-cover handbooks and thought this would be a nice add to the collection. It is not. Compared to the classic hardcover handbooks, this one is 1)paperback 2) 40% more expensive, 3) less than half the page count 4) font size is 3 times bigger, 5) spacing (white space) is more than double, and 6) only black and white.It looks like the publisher just turned on a photocopy machine and churned out copiesI can only hope that there are "secrets" in this "handbook", but as a paying parent, this is complete ripoff.

Do not buy. This is not authentic minecraft book. It looks like something my fourth grader could have made by herself. It is a very thin, black and white,lage print, short book full of information that anyone who is already a minecraft player will already know. It does not contain any useful secrets of the game. I paid more for this than I did for the official good quality book and am extremely upset with the quality and contents of this "book". I wish I could just return it but shipping it back just isn't worth it financially.

This "book" is seriously a joke. I skimmed through this book that I purchased for my nephew's birthday to find that the font is massive. Then I noticed that the grammar is horrendous throughout. The printed black and white pictures are distorted. I will be contacting Amazon to request a return. There is no excuse for this being an item for sale, especially $9.99! I'm extremely disappointed and hope others will read the reviews before purchasing. That was my mistake. I won't be making the same one, that's for sure!

FAKE!! this had to be copied off a scanner or something. its cheap nothing secret about it!

Poor quality. Basically the entire book is photocopied. "Color" illustrations are horrible and look all black. Waste of money. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Made to look like an Official Mojang Book. It's a cheap knock-off complete with b&w pictures.

Bought this as a gift for a 9 year old. I was surprised when I opened it to find something that looks like it was run off on a home copier (in black and white) with brief captions done on on a computer. Very elementary. I went to the book store and bought two beautiful, hard back books with glorious easy to see pictures with good explanations for just a little more. This book was a huge disappointment. Maybe it was written for a 5 year old. Keep looking. I do NOT know why this is a top seller. Maybe others feel as I do: I should return it, but it isn't worth the hassle.

This is a fascinating look at life in Queen Victoria's home(s) through the eyes of several of her closest servants. Although servants were not allowed to keep diaries there was no rule against them writing letters - here we have quotes, some of them published for the first time, from the letters of ladies-in-waiting, personal secretaries, personal physicians, and the royal nursery supervisor. This is Queen Vic at her most candid and I have thoroughly enjoyed the politics, the tantrums, the big-hearted concern for servants, the despising of "churchiness", her "nerves" and stubbornness, and the years of mourning for Albert. If you've read about Victoria you already know that she was a complete control freak - every detail of everyone's goings and comings was her business - but it is refreshing to see her good side as well as the tittle-tattle, to to hear it from first-hand witnesses.Serving the Queen was an arduous, often boring duty. There is not a hint of glamour here - just the honest expressions of those who had to stand around and wait for her next command, freeze in the unheated bedrooms of Victoria's palaces, or try to get her to comply with reasonable medical advice (she never did.)Loses one star for being overlong - could have used a bit more paring down in my opinion. Otherwise it's a very good read if you love histories.Recommended!

I thought the book was very well written and very interesting and very easy to read. It was interesting on how if you compare the court to Henry the 8 and Victoria's court on how people acted while they worked and waited on Royalty. It sounds like fun being apart of a court but it was a lot of hard work and took a toll on many people's health and most of the time it ended up killing them . In a sense you give up your life to wait on hand and foot 24/7 365 days a year to be available to a spoiled self centered person. Now I love Victoria but in fairness she was self centered, selfish and spoiled and she did not know any better. When Sarah Lyletton was retiring Victoria and Albert was not going to give her a big pension but in the end they did. The other people who did make it to retirement if they were lucky did not get a decent size pension. One other book I read when John Brown was dying and( who never took a day off in his life while working for Victoria ) was lying upstairs in his room ill Victoria was extremely upset that he could not make an effort to come down and see her as she had twisted her ankle and wanted the company. . Granted the doctor did not tell her how sick Brown was but she did know that he was ill and in bed.

If you find the Victorian period in history interesting, this is one book you won't want to to skip. I enjoyed it thoroughly from start to finish. The cast of characters really comes alive at every turn. I've read it several times since buying and enjoyed it over and over again.

I suspect I am in for some biased reporting about Victoria. Admitting that I have only just started the book, I will say that I am put off by this sentence:“... some of the same names that served under Victoria –Adeane, Lascelles, Fitzroy –have cropped up in Elizabeth II’s household (the likes of Paul Burrell, though, would have had no place at the Victorian court).”As I was a big fan of Princess Diana, I am offended by this judgmental and unnecessary comment. I will read on and report back later.

After watching the mini series “Victoria”, I found this non fiction book quite interesting. The characters on TV are mostly real people and their roles in Victoria’s life were elaborated on quite a bit in the book. I was surprised at the odd way that communications were a game of whisper down the lane after Albert’s death. He was truly a source of political savvy as well as emotional support during his short life.And even titled aristocrats who “waited” on the queen were relegated to very uncomfortable situations, including separation from their own families. The author also delves into the situation of the Munshi who was full of self aggrandizement, and John Brown, who was perhaps a true friend in her old age, but also frequently giving scandal by being inebriated, along with numerous relations at Balmoral.Altogether an interesting enlightenment on the subject!

Really a good book. It was great to read from the servants point of view. Excellent!

This is a very difficult book to read. The author uses far too many names and titles. I'm not british and maybe my knowledge of the old aristocracy is very limited. I found it all but impossible to keep my mind focused on that many people. I've not finished the book and continue to struggle with it. I have to use the index and flip back and forth to try to keep it all straight. It does have its moments.

I don't read that much about Victoria I'm more into the Royal area from 1910 on. But I thought I'd read this book because it was about the Royal Household which I have many questions about. But this book is so deep, and mentions so many names in one sentence that you can't keep your mind from getting fuddled. I'm going to wade through it for facts about the R.Household and their jobs but not try to keep up with names.

Excellent book about a spoiled, self-indulged, selfish, Empress. At times you love her and the rest of the time she is a child demanding absolute service 24/7 with no regard for her staff's lives, trials, tragidies(I am not a very good speller, where's the spell check?), family relations, etc............But never the less, and excellent glimpse into the Queen of England, her adored prince and Mr. & Mrs. "Brown" .............

Max Lucado has always been an encouraging and enjoyable author, but I think his books have been getting even better. In my opinion Max has a clear understanding of God's ways from a New Covenant perspective. He persuasively paints a picture of a loving, but holy and just God, and how God reaches out to man. Max does not diminish how difficult this world can be and how devastating sin's effect on us can be.I find that most Christian books are a mixture of old and new covenant teachings. Their underlying message is "try harder". They supposedly encourage the believer to work harder so God can bless you. If you don't you will remain in the same state forever. Max clearly and articulately shows that this is not how God works after Jesus. Your obedience is the Obedience Of Faith. As you put your faith in the promises of God you will see God's character and find his power to change you both from within and also your external circumstances. Max understands that there is no condemnation for the believer.I was blessed by this book. It is scriptural and shows God's heart toward you. I strongly encourage you to read it.

Lucado sure did his research in this book. Not only that, but, it has his usual easy to read writing style. I always look forward to the next Lucado book, and this is no different. I am looking forward to the next one. Lucado encapsulates each chapter in promises, God's promises to us that give us hope. He ends by suggesting that we come up with our own list of promises, which is a very good suggestion.One place I differ from Lucado is in his chapter entitled "This Temporary Tomb," which is about eternity. He describes how we will be perfected. He says we will have "a mind with no wandering thoughts." I believe it is good to have a mind with wandering thoughts. If I didn't have wandering thoughts, I wouldn't be able to write fiction, in fact I probably wouldn't be able to write non-fiction, either, as I write when the ideas come to me, so I must write as I go, taking notes. I am surprised Lucado wrote that part. Perhaps he doesn't have the same writing process I do. Anyhow, as usual, Lucado has written a better book this time than the last one, and the last one was good, too, which is why I always look forward to the next book by him.

Max Lucado reminds us that when all else fails, there is always hope. Hope is a four-letter word for expectation. It expresses a deep yearning in one’s heart. Faith is the glue that holds our hopes in our heart. We all hope for one thing or another during our lifetime. We hope you have a good day; We hope you succeed; We hope your dreams come true, etc. But, what exactly is the reality of hope? In one sense hope can be defined as wishing for something and expecting it to materialize. Perhaps the best way to find an answer is to dissect the word itself. I started reading this when I was called home to my mothers place to find Dad in horrible health. I handed over my copy of unshakable hope to her (signed copy) and I ordered another copy. There is no way that either of us are going into battle mode in life without Hope. This little book is filled with stories and promises from God that make our feet solid on God's Foundation with Peace and Hope.

This book was so uplifting and provided an insight on the biblical promises of God. it was easy to read and very engaging. This was the first Max Lucado book I have read. I will be reading more of his books in the near future. This is a great book if you need hope, and encouragement. I feel equipped to overcome any difficult circumstance.

It is solid. It should be the standard for any collegiate M&A class--I cannot imagine an M&A education without it.

The book provides with clear in-depth explanations of several issues revolving around M&A and Restructurings. The case analysis in conjunction with the theoretical background keeps the reader's focus throughout the materials. I highly recommend it.

Lengthy read but it covers at length many important topics with examples to follow. A must read for any student of finance
