In an article, "The Value of Prayer and Sacrifice for Priests," Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J., such a well-know and good priest and the author of The Catholic Catechism: A Contemporary Catechism of the Teachings of the Catholic Church wrote the following (I'm sure with a good deal of self-reflection):"Why do priests need special graces from God? They need special graces because they have extraordinary responsibilities before God. They are to be more than ordinarily holy, more generous, more zealous, more patient. In a word, those who are responsible for Christ's presence on earth they are to be, of all people, most Christ-like. They are to be patterns of what Christ wants all of us to be. Count all of the grave crises in the Church over the centuries. Every single one of them, somehow at heart, was due to the fact that priests had failed the people of God.""As long as I live, I will never forget the retreat of the late Fr. Daniel Lord gave us scholastics before our ordination. He recalled the episode of a conversation that Pope Pius had with Fr. Edmond Walsh, then of Georgetown who had just returned from a mission in Russia, where millions were starving because of the treachery of their Communist overlords. After the famine had abated, Fr. Lord was told to meet with the Holy Father. Late into the night Pope and Jesuit were in conversation over the conditions of the Church in that day. And the Pope asked Fr. Walsh who do you think are the greatest trials to the Church? Are they the persecutors, the Neros and Attilas, the Communists? The Pope answered his own question. No, they are unfaithful priests. It is no overstretch of language to say as the priesthood goes, so goes the Church.""We go on. In our day, more than I believe in any other day before, there are pressures on all those who wish to remain faithful to Christ such as were not experienced ever before. But the pressures are experienced by priests with a violence and a virulence such as no one else but a priest can understand. One saint after another has declared that the devil's principal target on earth is the Catholic priest. Stands to demonic reason - if the devil can deceive and delude a Catholic priest and draw him away from Christ, what happens? What happens is what we see happening in our world today. Priests are subject to extraordinary temptations from the devil, first and mainly, but also from the world."A little commentary on the above line, "as the priesthood goes, so goes the Church," I have seen as a "Lesson of Priestly Sanctity." It's listed here as anonymous, but I have heard it also attributed to Saint John Vianney, the patron saint of priests:If the priest is a saint, his people will be holy.If the priest is holy, his people will be good.If the priest is good, his people will be fair.If the priest is fair, his people will be mediocre. If the priest is mediocre, his people will be Godless.-Anon.Hopefully this book will help people to understand the need and further inspire them to follow through and to pray for their priests.

This book is a blessing for anyone who has a love for priests and the priesthood. Kathleen Beckman obviously has a call from God to pray for priests. Her straight forward sharing of her journey brings light to the fact that we ALL have the call to pray for priests. This is a lovely book which is anointed by the Holy Spirit! I highly recommend it to anyone who has a love and respect for the shepherds of the Church who need our prayers now more than ever before. This is one apostolate that we are all called to and can easily fulfill each in our own personal way. This is a book I will use as a resource for my prayer and meditation. God bless you as you read this book.

AN EXCELLENT BOOK! THERE IS A REAL NEED FOR BOOKS TO SHOW THE NEED FOR PRAYING FOR PRIEST. THIS BOOK CONTAINS WAYS TO PRAY FOR PRIESTS: HOLY HOURS, SCRIPTURAL ROSARIES AND MORE. IT ALSO GIVES STORIES FROM PRIESTS WHO TALKED ABOUT THE POWER OF PRAYER IN HELPING THEM BECOME PRIESTS. UNFORTUNATELY, I SHOWED IT TO ONE PERSON WHO BORROWED IT, I AM ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE RETURN OF THE OUTSTANDING BOOK. I ENCOURAGE EVERY CATHOLIC TO PRAY FOR PRIEST AND BUY THIS BOOK.

EVEN MORE INFORMATIVE AND SPIRITUALLY MOTIVATING THAN I HAD HOPED!!

This book is a great read and resource to deepen a person's prayer life. Logically, and with deep spiritual insights, it makes a strong case for the need to pray for priests with new intentionality for the New Evangelization. It also offers the spiritual tools and weapons for the universal call to holiness for both priests and lay faithful. The personal testimonies of the author and priests are very inspiring, as are the spiritual exercises offered in the Appendix. With 100 pages of prayers and spiritual exercises, it becomes a very helpful prayer manual. May it be read far and wide.

I love this book so much I've given out more than 10 copies to others. I just wish the scriptural rosaries in the back were available in a pamphlet so I didn't have to drag the whole book around with me when praying the rosaries.

If there is anything most important to do: It is to love and prayerfully support these men of God. I am very happy I bought this book.

This is a beautiful book, I am now buying it for the families of priests and seminarians
